It's the final countdown

Ever since I mentioned the Sydney Marathon, Frank has been keen to point out to me that his pb is better than mine. His Melbourne Marathon effort was 3 hours 43 mins and has given me a new target to beat. Based on my first 2 marathons which were both in the 4 hours 20 mins mark I cut down to 3 hours 53 last year so I reckon it could go either way this year.

This is an image from my new gadget, a fancy pants GPS watch. As I am a nerd I can wear it with pride knowing the huge lump on my arm is going to create these funky graphs. It tells me everything about my run; heart rate, location, pace, elevation and will beep at me loudly when I need to work harder.

So the training this week has been Spin class, 3 x 1600m sprints (see above picture), Spin Class, today is a 13km run and 16km on Sunday. Hopefully these runs should be nice and easy as I got a sports massage from Barbara last night and she gave my legs a clean bill of health. Then the tapering really begins with a few walks in the park next week and some serious mental preparation in the pub.
